Flying into Cape Town, I think that I, like a lot of people, didn’t exactly know what to expect. What’s certain, for sure, is that I was not ready for the sheer beauty that we saw. Maybe living in a city like Dubai has made me so accustomed to tall skyscrapers being part of the backdrop, that I sometimes forget that there are cities out there where mountains and large bodies of water are part of the everyday scenery.
Table Mountain
Table mountain is an important tourist attraction located in the middle of Cape Town and is pretty hard to miss. The top of the mountain has a long, flat area which provides an amazing view of Cape Town below. If you manage to climb up to the top on a very cloudy (and cold) day you can see the clouds roll by which creates a breathtaking view of the city.
Nature
If you’re a nature-lover, then you’re guaranteed to fall in love with Cape Town. The trees feel a little greener and the oceans, a little blue-r.
Long Street
Long Street is a major street located close to what can be considered the downtown of Cape Town and is filled with restaurants and shops on either side. The architecture is very varied and you’ll see classy, Victorian style designs on one side and bright, vibrant buildings on the other.
Victoria & Alfred Waterfront
The Victoria & Alfred Waterfront is a short drive away from Long street and really knows how to look good especially during sunset.
Driving South
When driving from the heart of Cape Town to the south, you’ll see some awe-inspiring sights along the way. As you drive along the curvy roads that borders the water, be prepared to get distracted by the rich blue colors of the water.
Boulders Beach
While heading towards Cape Point, Boulders Beach is a quick stop which is well worth the detour. If you’re a fan of cute penguins, then this place has you covered. Don’t be surprised if you spot a whale or two.
Cape Point
Cape Point is one of the most southern points of Africa and is a great place to see some more of that spectacular blue water and even some baboons and other birds and animals. It can get pretty windy though, so make sure you hold on tight to your hat
Overall, Cape Town is one of the most beautiful cities I’ve ever been to. In fact, it’s the only city where I’ve looked around and realized that any photo I was going to take would do this city justice.
